Review of To Sir, with Love (1967) by Kevin C — 18 Jun 2007
This is a great film for all Sidney Poitier fans. The plot of the determined teacher who comes into a classroom of unruly teenagers seems over done today, with movies such as Freedom Writers, or Dangerous Minds, but this 1967 classic is the best and most inspirational of all.
Poitier is always a great actor and his talent can be seen throughout this whole film. The teens learn actual life lessons and are prepared for what they'll face in the real world, rather than be taught math, language, and reading.
The theme song, the same title as the film, performed by Lulu is a classic and gives the story on film more feeling and heart.
