Review of To Sir, with Love (1967) by Doug S — 01 Dec 2007
Sidney Poitier stars as Mark Thackeray in his portrayal of a teacher in London's East End slums. Ths students are rude, and rebellious.
Poitier throws away his textbooks and teaches them about humanity, respect and real life, and finally wins the kids over.
The students are led by rebel Denham (Christian Roberts), class trollop Pamela Dare (Judy Geeson), and Barbara 'Babs' Pegg (Lulu) who sings the title track in a heart-warming, sentimental finale that always leaves me looking for the tissues.
A very moving story, with a few good laughs and an excellent insight into rebellious youth.
