One of the most effective and well-made of the teacher "trying to make a difference" type movies. It deals honestly with racial and social issues, and pulls no punches, preferring to address those issues honestly rather than putting any sort of candy-sweet spin on it like almost all Hollywood movies do.
Sidney Poitier is one of the most gifted actors to ever grace the screen, and he is in top form here.
