Review of To Save a Life (2009) by Prozpero T — 08 Feb 2010
Anything that moves some teenager from creep and two-dimensional BMOC can't be all bad even if the simplistic and band-aid fits-all of religious faith, understood at a pretty primitive teen level is the key this movie proposes. but if it makes kids less trend-crazy and reflective, can't be all bad, even if the medicine is to be taken in small doses.
It is propaganda, pure and simple, but with some social benefits, so why beat the crap out of it even if a sophisticated person may sigh and roll their eyes occasionally, even if mildly touched by a glimmering growth of human consciousness---however its jiggered up here. It can always grow and flower in other directions, whereas the status quo of surface glam is almost a certain close door to greater self-insight---with or without God ultimately.
But I do wonder what it is like to be a classic "true believer" in the way psychologists and sociologists have studied, which requires a special mental discipline, not all good ) Totalitarian political systems, which seem to be fading than goodness, to give an obviously exaggerated extreme opposite example, require total true belief also.
Bu tgoodness and growth ARE good. Hey, one step among many paths......
