Review of To Save a Life (2009) by Dave A — 03 Sep 2010
Going in I didn't realize that this was a Religious film, I was just excited to see this movie because of the great idea, message, and story. It really is too bad that the message of Christianity and Religion had to move to the forefront and it couldn't take a backseat to the story of a kid that wants to do more with his life and treat others with kindness. I think the story hits close to home for those of us that went to High School in America, the film takes it a bit more extreme than some of our experiences but it was not that far off.
I personally think that this would be a great movie for people that like watching Christian Based movies, but if that is not your thing then you will have a hard time seeing past it. I really am disappointed that they made the move with the strong religious overtones but I guess that was their intent from the beginning, however they could have reached a larger audience with a similar message if they would have toned it down. As it stands right now, I would only recommend this movie to my church going friends and family but nobody else.
