Review of To Rome with Love (2012) by Ema S — 07 Aug 2012
Woody Allen still has some witty quips up his sleeve, but that's not enough to make a movie work. The fragments of the plot don't play well together, and they aren't great on their own either.
Alec Baldwin's character is an odd presence altogether, as is the whole plot around Roberto Benigni's part. The rest is decent, but it is a mosaic of good stories you tell at a party, not a film.
Plus, the cine bothered me; the depth of field and composition make it unpleasant to look at, and that's not good for a romcom.
