Review of To Rome with Love (2012) by Pt S — 07 Aug 2012
The low ratings are not deserved. I think after Midnight In Paris (and the rest of Woody Allen's brilliant career), people were expecting lightning to strike twice. The main problem with this movie is its EDITING.
Many scenes are don't belong in it, they're so superfluous and just not interesting. Many scenes go on way too long. I love Alec Baldwin; this is not 30 Rock, and from the loose editing his lines sometimes seem to fall flat, almost appear to be alternate, inferior takes accidentally edited-in.
I love Woody Allen, and this IS a nice movie to go see, to rent or buy. Parts of it ARE hysterical. And beautiful (Italy)!
