I preface by admitting I love Woody, and this movie had really good classic Woody moments. The problem was it was too long, because there were too many stories. He should have cut out the Roberto Benigni piece (and repurposed him since he's a great actor).

Alec Baldwin's story was the strongest and best. And I hate to admit it but Woody got in his own way in the beginning and I felt like he was the weakest link in his own movie! His recent best: Midnight in Paris, Vicky Christina Barcelona and Match Point may have all succeeded not only because they were well-written but also because he wasn't in them.

Yet the first time the opera singer who can only sing in the shower comes on stage, I couldn't stop laughing. So, yes he missed the mark, but there were some brilliant scenes here in Rome.
