Review of To Rome with Love (2012) by Ola S — 30 Aug 2012
You never get tired of him, although there's of course some truth in saying that Woody Allen has made the same picture since "Annie Hall" in 40 versions. It's not like that and never was, but now it seems like he's finally grew bored with reality, filling it with a some fantasy and hallucinations.
He has done it in Paris and this time in Rome. 6-7 episodes are rolling, but the best ones are those with just a little fantasy or none at all.
But the dialogue isn't that quick, Roberto Benigni and Penelope Cruz don't fit in. Allen's USA meets Allen's Europe is still a potent theme. But not like Woody's NY meets Woody's NY.
