Review of To Rome with Love (2012) by Adrian Z — 06 Jan 2013
Another one in Woody Allen's European cycle, this one features 4 stories set in Rome. Benigni is an everyday guy who suddenly becomes famous and a target for papparazzi; Allen finds a new opera star to represent, the catch is that this singer will only do so in the shower; student Eisenberg cheats on his girlfriend with another friend with Baldwin acting as his conscience; and pretty newlywed Mastronardi gets lost in Rome and has a fling with an actor while her husband has to pass off prostitute Cruz as his wife to his family.
Good mix of comedy, absurdity, and surrealism, but only Benigni and Allen's stories are really worthwhile. Beatiful cinematography highlights the beauty of the Italian capital.
