Review of To Rome with Love (2012) by Christian C — 11 Jun 2013
This is without a shadow of a doubt one of the worst romantic comedies I've ever seen in my life. The various storylines that collectively make up the film vary significantly in precisely how they suck - offensive, patronising, childish, moronic - but they all have one thing in common: they're all, without exception, horrifically, gobsmackingly unfunny.
The ensemble cast of Hollywood stars and Italian locals don't embarrass themselves I suppose but I get the distinct impression that they're there purely for the paid holiday and the chance to write "worked with Woody Allen" on their CV's - not that that's going to carry much weight in the future if he keeps making dross like this.
Only the lovingly-shot titular city escapes with its head held high.
