Review of To Return (1982) by E L — 16 Jul 2012
A poignant film set in the crazed La Mancha of Spain. Almodovar successfully blends themes of family love, family secrets and dealing with the past to create Volver. Volver offers an unforgettable insight into the not-so-often-spoken-about part of society, that leaves audience in awe of Almodovar's treatment of the subject matter.
Almodovar has yet again portrayed the family hearth with honesty and evoked reality through quirky family conversations and rituals. Cruz shines as Raimunda, with an equally stunning cast at her side.
