Review of To Live and Die in L.A. (1985) by Richard C — 24 Sep 2012
An ultra-cool and stylish thriller from William Friedkin, To Live and Die in LA contains brilliant performances from William Petersen and Willem Defoe as the respective cop and criminal whose pulse-pounding rivalry makes for some entertaining sequences that play upon the viewer thanks to some clever twists.
The ending, without giving too much away, is different, oblique and in a sense frustrating, but ultimately plausible and thanks to Friedkin's fast-paced direction and an intriguing story, this film comes off as an enoyable thriller and one of the top thrillers of the 1980s.
