Review of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) by Peter P — 02 Sep 2010
This is one of those movies that the medium of film was invented for. I will admit that I knew nothing about To Kill A Mocking Bird before watching, other then that it was famous. Lately I have been watching a lot of older films that I have heard of but never seen, some have been everything that people said they were (Spartacus), and some left me with a sour taste in my mouth cause I disliked them that much (2001 A Space Odyssey, I am looking at you here) and then there is this one, which totally blew my every expectation away.
Atticus Fitch is my new hero, he is an incredible character that was played amazingly by Peck. I remember reading a quote on the dvd cover right before watching it, and it said that Atticus was considered to be the greatest hero in film history, and man did that bother me.
After seeing it though, I would not necessarily say he is the greatest, but he has to be up there. As for the movie itself, it is an amazing story that has a great tone, and an ending that just made me feel awed.
Do yourself a favor, watch this movie, and if you have seen it already, then watch it again. Amazing, simply amazing.
