Review of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) by Oliver S — 22 Feb 2012
A very good film, however even at 2 hr. 9 min. the film is not long enough. It misses out some of the best chapters in the book, for example the deeply moving mrs Dubose scene which shines in the novel is not included. I does still capture the feel of small america, though, and Gregory Peck's performance is second-to-none. It even features a cameo performance, brilliant nonetheless, from Robert Duvall.
If you haven't read the book you will love it, but if you have read the book you can't help but feel it could have been that little bit better. In short the feel of the film is perfect, but the content isn't.
