Review of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) by Julian T — 08 Dec 2011
A terrificly powerful and relivant film, even in todays world. I can only imagine how much more so it must have been upon its early 60's release. Tackles a great deal of serious social issues in a tactful, engaging and nostalgic way.
A coming of age story that manages to capture both the wonderment of childhood, and its sometimes blessful ignorance. Also captures the far simpler time of decades past, as well as their ugly and underdeveloped social issues.
A great script which is pretty close to Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize winning novel, and brought to life by terrific acting. The great Gregory Peck's career defining role as far as I'm concerned.
An amazing movie that's status as a classic masterpiece is more than well deserved.
