Review of To Hell and Back (1955) by Aric C — 17 Jun 2007
Like when George Washington became more powerful than a king by refusing to become one himself, Audie Murphy became more than a hero when he decided to have the movie based on his experiences focus more on the men who fought and died alongside him than focus on himself alone.
Besides that noble act, a solid war film with a solid foothold in accuracy (despite the watering down of his awe-inspiring act for which he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor) provide one of the better war film experiences ever captured on celluloid.
