Review of To Have and Have Not (1945) by Bill W — 06 Dec 2007
This film has elements that were in Casablanca. Vichy France is still the menace. This time it takes place on the Island of Martinique. The piano player is Hoagy Carmichael and the woman is Lauren Bacall.
The chemistry between Bogart and Bacall literally sizzles. Witty dialog is a strong point in this film. The suspense is dated to the point where it doesn't really matter, but the wit, humor and sizzle all remain.
