Review of To Have and Have Not (1945) by Mitchell W — 29 Jun 2008
Hemingway never liked his novel, but Hawks liked a few elements in it so he bet Hemingway he could make a good movie around those parts. The result is arguably better than "Casablanca." For one thing, Bogart and Bacall have better chemistry, and there's more grit and earthiness to the entire picture.
A classic.
