Bogie plays Harry Morgan who, like Rick Blaine, won't stick his neck out for anybody yet becomes involved with some members of the Free French due to his interest in a woman (Lauren Bacall). In her film debut, Bacall is excellent and there are no signs of the nerves that she apparently had on set.
