Review of To Die For (1995) by Andrew F — 27 Feb 2008
One of Nicole Kidman's breakthrough U.S. roles, in that she proves she can do more than be Tom Cruise's pretty wife. Her Suzanne Stone is one of the sharper parodies of low-level fame seekers, and Kidman sells it without going totally over the top.
It's also some really, really needy early work from Joaquin Phoenix. Overall, it's funny and well-acted, but there are better satires of this sort of thing. I think of it as more of a proving ground for this set of actors.
