Review of To Die For (1995) by Derek B — 16 Dec 2008
Gus Van Sant's black comedy about media ambition and obsession is low on laughs but does serve up some deliciously relevant satire. Kidman is perfectly cast and rather sexy in one of her few good roles plus Joaquin Phoenix gives a subtlely tragic, surprisingly deep and touching performance as the teenage metalhead persuaded to kill her husband.
Also features a cameo from David Cronenberg and Nailbomb on the soundtrack. Good one!
