Review of To Catch a Thief (1955) by John H — 09 Jun 2010
Wonderful romantic thriller from the legendary Alfred Hitchcock.Hitchcock wasn't exploring the dark territory of the likes of VERTIGO,MARNIE,PSYCHO or ROPE with this film which is one of his lighter efforts.
Cary Grant is brilliant in the lead and Grace Kelly is superb as his love interest and their chemistry together is absolutely fantastic.Jesse Royce Landis is also excellent as Kelly's mother.I loved the film's light tone and it's charming, funny, stylish stuff.
Hitchcock's direction,as you would expect,is truly brilliant and the film is full of great moments and it also benefits from a smart script.Outstanding film.
