Review of To Be or Not to Be (1942) by Eric R — 18 Feb 2012
I love the repetition. You know what's coming, but not how it's going to play out. This reminded me greatly of Inglourious Basterds, but with characters I got to know well, liked and was rooting for.
I liked all the word play, especially from Maria. She was clearly the brains of the operation. I also really liked that while everyone was very patriotic they didn't stop being themselves. And also that while the Nazis were the enemy they were not some glorified monstrous machine, but people -- which is much worse.
