The critics obviously weren't fans of the franchise to begin with. Despite my doubts, this film managed to go beyond my expectations. The CGI and action scenes were fantastic. The plot, while not solid, had excellent drama and internal family tension to go around.
I looked forward to the Casey/April interaction and enjoyed the moments while they lasted, though few. The spare humour by Mikey or Casey were cheesy but appreciated, and hardly over-the-top. No complains about the stellar voiceover cast.
Overall, a more serious and action-packed adaptation that is not for kids, but great for teens.
