Review of Titus (1999) by Lucie B — 25 Feb 2009
This is a mess. After reading the play, I thought it would be very simple to make this movie and for it to be good. Julie Taymor proved otherwise. She's so focused on the look of the sets and the film that she makes her characters almost two dimensional.
Yeah, they're on screen, but I don't care about any of them. I don't know, maybe I just preferred reading the play to watching the movie, but I just felt that the film took a very strange approach to a play that is already entertaining in its own right.
With "Titus" I expected way more and received much less.
