Review of Titanic II (2010) by Davin G — 17 May 2011
I was simply bored and browsing my netflix queue when I came upon this gem. I have never seen the original, but from what it looks like this sequel makes up for the lack of imagination and penchant for historical accuracy James Cameron places in all his movies (See Avatar, The Terminator, True Lies).
I was astounded by the ingenuity of Shane Van Dyke (grandson of legendary Paul Van Dyk) using heart wrenching dialogue and clever metaphor such as, "Lightning never strikes twice". I didn't even know the RMS Titanic was struck by lightning.
Either way I was mesmerized by the CG which closely resembles playstation graphics. I was very disappointed when I learned that this movie did not receive any Oscars, which is unfortunate because Van Dyke could have won best screenplay, director, and leading male actor.
