Review of Titanic (1997) by Nick W — 17 Dec 2013
*spoiler alert*.
Rose Calvert (Gloria Stuart) sees news footage that a drawing of a nude woman has been found preserved in the Titanic, which sank 84 years ago (as this film takes place in 1996).
Rose gives the leader of the expedition a call, claiming the woman in the drawing was her. She is then transported to the skiff because she may know the location of the 'heart of the ocean' necklace which the woman in the drawing wore. She begins to explain her experience on the Titanic when she was seventeen.
The film flashes back to the boarding of the ship where young Rose (Kate Winslet)and Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) board the ship separately.
The two meet later on, then more frequently until Rose comes to the conclusion she loves Jack -- and not the man she was set up by her mother to marry. Jack, a skilled artist agrees to draw her naked, wearing the heart of the ocean.
Further on, Jack and Rose stay with each other until the ship sinks, but only Rose survives.
The film was tear jerking and the score was incredible. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio had perfect chemistry in the movie.
