Review of Titane (2021) by Tvjerry — 07 Oct 2021
Julia Ducournau’s first film was Raw, which was about a vegetarian who develops a taste for raw meat. It established Ducournau as a writer/director with a unique sensibility. This time, Agathe Rousselle plays an exotic dancer who becomes impregnated by a Cadillac and things only get more bizarre from there.
Being French, there are lingering shots and introspective moments, in addition to plentiful nudity and moments of violence. Thru all the upended expectations, there’s a tender core with a compelling relationship.
Since it’s undeniably twisted and extreme, some will be intrigued, while others will be turned off.
