Review of Titan A.E. (2000) by Tim K — 30 May 2014
Titan A.E. was a movie that bombed at the box office and closed down Fox Animation Studios... not for lack of trying though. The movie features an all-star cast, has a blend of hand-drawn animation and CGI, and features a heady science fiction storyline.
The problem for me with it mainly is the awful dialogue and the cliched characters. Unfortunately, they're stuck in two dimensions and spout some really terrible and overused lines to each other, as well as being overused characters themselves.
As for the animation, it doesn't hold up very well, but it must have looked cool upon release. I was around for that, but I didn't see it until years later, so I'm not sure how I would have felt about it in those days.
As of this writing, I only found it mediocre and I'll probably never see it more than once. I've already forgotten a lot about it, actually. That should give you some idea about how memorable it is.
