Earth has been destroyed by an alien race, and the only salvation for the human race is in a ship called Titan. After his father was killed in the destruction Cale has a rather callous attitude to humanity and his father in particular.
Despite this, he is the only salvation for Earth due to a ring that only he wears that reveals where Titan is. Titan AE is like a blend of Disney's Treasure Island,and Heavy Metal 2000, but much worse in both regards.
