Review of Tiny Furniture (2010) by Bob C — 26 Nov 2010
If "Sex and the City" were directed by Woody Allen you would find yourself with "Tiny Furniture". Directed, Written, and Starring Lena Dunham, it's the moving story of a girl trying to find her way in the world in the heart of the artsy community in New York is one that I will not soon forget.
There is however one major flaw that kept me from giving this a perfect 5/5, the lack of dinosaurs. Albeit it may have seemed rather unrealistic, I think that the general audience would surely forgive Lena Dunham if she were to have made the right move and added a few dinosaurs into some key scenes.
Case and point, imagine that in one of the scenes toward the end, in which the main character (Aura) and the chef are having sex inside of a pipe in an empty lot, instead of the awkward post-coital tension the movie could have been easily improved by replacing this moment with a scene in which Aura and the chef, mid-coitus, are interrupted by the king of the Mesozoic era, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The resulting chase scene would have been spectacular, two young, hip youths fleeing through the artsy section of New York as a T-Rex leaves a trail of destruction directly behind them. Although I would absolutely love to give this movie a 5/5, I cannot ignore the obvious flaws that Lena Dunham has made and because of that I give it a 1/5.
