Review of Tiny Furniture (2010) by J'onn J — 20 Jan 2013
In the tradition of the plotless, quotidian indie film sensation, Tiny Furniture presents us with Aura. Aura is lazy, neurotic, whiny and overweight. Aura must overcome the post college doldrums in her mother's lavish Manhattan apartment. Poor little thing. She tries to get laid and lands herself in several awkward and amusing situations. Lena Dunham is particularly gifted at scripting these.
As mentioned, Aura has many things that make her an unappealing lead. Dunham is obviously a competant film-maker, so I don't believe the character is unintentionally annoying, but I still can't figure out why I am supposed to care what happens to her.
