Review of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) by Ramesh M — 12 Oct 2012
During the height of the Cold War, a senior British operative must uncover a Soviet mole in the Circus (MI6). Complex doesn't even begin to describe this twisted tale of international espionage that demands (arguably) too much from its viewer.
There is a lot of talent at work here (especially Gary Oldman in his only Oscar nominated role to date), but the film suffers from an odd dichotomy of being dense and plot heavy while simultaneously not explaining enough and dragging at times.
There is more to be appreciated than enjoyed.
