Enjoyable for the same reason David Fincher's Zodiac was enjoyable. TTSS transports the audience to a time and place we'd forgotten. All star cast, if one is an Anglophile. Le Carre's own personal experience lends this story a great deal of verisimilitude, and this adaptation has a surprising amount of humanity and pathos for a spy thriller.
Granted, everything in this film is understated and muted, and the plot has lots of moving parts. One of the year's best pictures. Full price ticket, front row.
