Review of Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy (2014) by Carlos T — 22 Mar 2014
The tinker bell series so far have all been quite interesting and I think the fans can all agree that it's time for a cinema release.
Mae Whitman reprises her role as the tie character, tinker bell superbly well. Casting credits also include Christina hendricks as Zarina (The Pirate Fairy) and Lucy Liu as Silvermist. All of which fit their characters very well so I am pleased about this.
The plot centres around how a misunderstood Zarina becomes a pirate and steals Pixie Hollows blue pixie dust. Tinker Bell and the gang must bring it back and face other obstacles such as a ship of pirates and having their talents swapped!
The plot itself is interesting but the script was often unwitty and rather dull at some points. The film also lacked the cinematography needed to make it worthy of the big screen so I think I would've appreciated it more if it stayed in the small screen as a TV movie. Also, as I was saying about the script, there were moments when I felt it was to complex for its target young audience to understand, such as Zarina's banishment.
Overall, this was enjoyable but may have been more impressive as a TV movie and stayed off the big screen.
