The movie veered very, very far from the books - the fairies don't all live in the tree, they have their own villages grouped by talent, the only characters from the books were Terrence, Clarion and Vidia (and Tink).
Still, it was enjoyable. We laughed out loud at some parts and the story is classic "you're perfect the way you are". My 8 yr old didn't seem to mind the inconsistencies with the book series, even though we've read them all. I'm disappointed that they didn't release it in theaters.
