Review of Tinker Bell (2008) by Ira S — 01 Jul 2011
This is a fantastic movie! Although this movie came before Disney's Rebirth Era which began in 2009 with The Princess and the Frog, it would definentely belong in there with Tangled and Toy Story 3. This movie offers stunning animation, introduces us to a marvelous, magical world in Neverland and at the same time, teaches the members of the younger audience (at some of us in the older age category) to be proud of who we are and not try to change ourselves. Plus, TINKERBELL TALKS FOR FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!
In addition, Tink is given a rival, which of course adds intrigue to the story and we are introduce to five others fairies and learn how they are born.
And speaking of Tink's rival, Vidia play a very good villain in the movie. First, she talks down Tink about her talent and then she tries to sabotage her!! If given the chance, she could've been a major antagonist to her.
One thing I need to say though, why do these fairies not have parents?! They just become preteens or teenagers the minute they're born and they know how to speak and walk and talk and fly and all that stuff! Talk about maturing fast!
Kids will love this movie and even if you're not a kid and you grew up with Peter Pan like I did, you will want to give this movie a try. Trust me, you won't regret it. From the memorable scene of Tink saying her first word to the stunning visuals of Pixie Hollow and Tink's resolve of overcoming adversaty and staying true to herself, you will find something good with this movie. All it takes is faith, trust and just a little pixie dust.
