Review of Tinker Bell (2008) by Cassie B — 13 Jan 2010
This movie is an excellent movie for young children, not only because it is amazing to look at, but the message in this movie is one that is so very classic - Be proud of exactly who you are. There is no adult humor or anything like that. It truly is just a very heart warming, sweet story. I thoroughly enjoyed having a chance to explore Tinkerbell more, and I thought the way they brought so many different types of fairies and built this entire world based on one tiny winged character was ingenious. In some weird way it makes even more sense as to her at times "tinkering" with Peter Pan helping him fix situations. I really thought her character in this movie was true to how she is supposed to be. At times sweet and helpful, other times vindictive and wild.
I kept hoping towards the last part of the movie that something would happen and show me exactly how she came to be with Peter Pan in the first place, but honestly when I realized that wasn't going to happen I wasn't upset. Instead I actually cried a little bit at the end. I guess it was the beauty of the animation, the innocence and purity in the film itself, and the fact that throughout the entire movie I seemed to get a little closer to the little girl inside of me. I was left feeling very uplifted and nostalgic.
This is a wonderful movie for kids to see, I know I felt good about myself and what my talents are after watching it. So yeah... I'm a nerd and I'm proud of it!
