Review of Tin Cup (1996) by Jane H — 25 Jun 2011
Iâ(TM)m not a huge fan of Mr C, he is likeable but for me his best work was as Elliot Ness in The Untouchables. However, he was good as Roy â~Tin Cupâ(TM) MacAvoy. He portrayed the character as petulant, insecure, and unpredictable.
He was ably supported by Cheech Marin as his stooge sidekick Romeo. Iâ(TM)m not a fan of Don Johnson but he was good in his role as the obnoxious David Sims. Of course, Rene Russo who has disappeared into oblivion these days provided the love interest.
Itâ(TM)s a film about golf which I donâ(TM)t have an interest and donâ(TM)ty think of as sport but as more of a means to network. Shame on me! I can see that it does require skill even if itâ(TM)s not high on the cardiovascular workout.
Donâ(TM)t they walk miles too? Mr C seemed to twoer over his co-stars literally and makes a cute romantic lead. After all, the film is at heart a romantic comedy even if it explores some growth in Royâ(TM)s character - although Iâ(TM)m not sure I saw much improvement.
Likeable, if a little predictable.
