Review of Timeline (2003) by Jc E — 22 Jun 2010
Films have often sought to explore time travel and what is known as the butterfly effect. This film seeks to do that once more, but ends up feeling like a thrown together film from a book that is likely much better -- sorry, I haven't read the Michael Crichton novel, and this film didn't inspire me to pick it up.
Paul Walker (Fast & Furious) continues to underwhelm, and Gerard Butler (How to Train Your Dragon) and Billy Connolly (The Boondock Saints II: All Saint's Day) fail to impress as well. What's most annoying about the whole film, is the portrayal of the French as having a spine -- when we all know that it's historically inaccurate to do so.
The plot is thin, the acting is subpar, and the conclusion is too convenient. Plus, epic fail on the butterfly effect angle. It takes a lot of escapism on the part of the viewer for movies like this to work -- this movie demands too much.
