Review of Timecop (1994) by Robert M — 24 Nov 2008
Well before Hollywood started developing faithfull adaptations to Graphic Novels this is another example, and of course what better than the Muscles from Brussels as Time Enforcement Agent Walker this shows again that Van Damme cannot act to save his life.
Its the decent concept for an Action flick and good enough directing to go along with it however here are the problems which I had with it to start with the storyline from the Graphic Novel had practically gone only the bog standard concept remained, the fact that Van Dammes character had totally forgotten about the Laws which he swore to uphold that being he changed his past by averting the killing of his wife and the plotline was something that could have been used for any other Time travel concept so no new territory has been covered.
Other errors to this movie include walker (Van Dammes character) no where near gun ho in this and as I remember doesn,t know any form of Martial Arts somehow he does in this version, this is certainly one which could benefit from a franchise Reboot but it needs just like always THOUGHT.
Any how still like a movie in which Braun and not Brains is important and plenty of scenes in which a belgium guy performs a lot of acrobatic fights with really stupid Bad Guys this is just up your street.
