Review of Time Regained (1999) by Alison A — 04 Oct 2007
Good, visually resplendent, film this from Chilean-born director Raoul Ruiz. The number of characters leaves the plot complex, but the sumptuous aesthetics and naturalistic performances alolow the languidly paced work to wash over the viewer, immersing them in Proust's paradise. Poetic, epic, ambitious and over-long this film's for those of a literary bent searching for some quality european arthouse drama.
Probably deserves a couple of viewings for a full appraisal.
