Review of Time Out of Mind (2015) by Todd L — 07 Nov 2015
If Time Out of Mind seems like a laborious and exhausting effort to view, then it has achieved its intent, bringing to consciousness the daily plight of the homeless that so many of us simply pass by everyday.
Richard Gere gives a masterful performance as Paul in a film stripped raw, exposing the almost inconceivable life of a homeless and mentally ill man. George is not only homeless, but has no identification and is estranged from his daughter, leaving him invisible to the world, creating a painful realization for the audience.
While the length of the film can be daunting, I left with the sense that this film was powerful in its ability to grow my compassion, and an unforgettable experience that will forever change my view of the homeless who I see everyday.
