Review of Time Bandits (1981) by Zach Z — 17 Mar 2010
There is something about this movie. It has a very subtle dark sense of humor, and vague mockery of human suffering, but not in a sadistic way, the the traditional Monty Python way. It captures perfectly a young boys fixation on violence & masculinity, and follows his journey as a he grows up.
The visual style is amazing too, for the effects used. And I never get tired of watching it.
