Review of Tightrope (1984) by Steve W — 01 Oct 2009
Clint Eastwood plays a Police Captain that explores his darker side while tracks down a serial killer rapist in the underbelly of New Orleans.
The movie is very underrated, with dark and grim subject matter. The killer is sort of like Jack the Ripper, but only in modern times. There are so many sexual undertones and themes involved, such as bondage being a metaphor for control.
Some of the set pieces are downright creepy, and it manages to craft an interesting story with inner conflict for the main character as he does his job to catch the killer, which parallels his personality as well.
An underrated thriller that should be checked out if you like the genre.
