Review of Tigerland (2000) by Andrew W — 28 Dec 2010
A nice turn for Schumacher.
This is Colin Farrell at his best.
Matthew Davis is an excellent supporting role as well creating that cool bromance.
The army is such an environment dissapating the spirits not only during the war but at home too.
A soldier can only be pushed and tested so much to the point of losing hope.
Being set in the 1970's they definitely got the gritty look to it with the camera filter and the rough tone.
I love the sense of realism, putting the audience in the boots of these characters as if they were really there.
As for a Vietnam War film 'Tigerland' ranks to the top of the genre.
