Review of Tigerland (2000) by Evelyn C — 05 Jul 2007
Many excellent films about the Vietnam War exist, but few like this. A boot camp film about its day to day harshness, the film serves as testimony to the nature of war that soldiers were told to expect.
"A two way shooting range" and other illustrations about a death sentence. Farrell's character in Roland Bozz is the goof off, the one who takes exceptions to the rules. The drama isn't just his simple rebellion, but the trickle down effect he has on others and how they show theirs in other ways.
This film has enough layers that it makes Full Metal Jacket look simple.
