Review of Tideland (2005) by Andy D — 06 Oct 2010
A major trip-fest. Imagine Alice in Wonderland on an LSD overdose. Weird, funny, disturbing, but ultimately Terry Gilliam's best film in a while, certainly since Twelve Monkeys. Jodelle Ferland is AMAZING as the main character, Jelizah-Rose, and the cinematography is excellent, the soundtrack quirky.
The movie is certainly better than the 27% of critics who liked it say it is, but ultimately its not for everyone. This is, at the end of the day, a child's journey into (and vision of) a Terry Gilliam created world.
..so expect weirdness!
