Review of Tideland (2005) by Jason F — 07 Oct 2010
While it is a bit unsettling to see so many horrible things happen to a child, it's hard to undermine the ultimate vision of Terry Gilliam's masterpiece, Tideland. It's a harrowing story of a child left alone on a desolate farm, both parents dead from addiction, and the strength of the child's imagination.
Her perseverance in the face of these things is the true story behind this film, and it is brilliantly (and as always, imaginatively) portrayed by Gilliam. In my top 5.
